I Just Can’t Wrap My Tiny Brain Around This One

I just can’t wrap my tiny brain around this one—maybe you enlightened folks can explain it to me. At the big virtual Valley Link meeting, when someone had the nerve to ask, “Hey, who’s actually footing the $1.1 billion dollar bill for this glorious transmission line?” Valley Link’s Rob Richardson lit up like he’d won the lottery and chirped, “Why, you all are, right there on your Dominion Energy bills!” Meanwhile, I tried to get power run out to my little remote property and got hit with a cheerful $32-per-foot quote—yeah, that works out to about $60,000 just to plant a few sad wooden poles and flip the switch. But sure, that makes total sense. Why would the data-center titans building a monster line have to cover their own tab when good ol’ Joe Consumer can just keep getting cheerfully shafted every month? I mean, clearly I’m just some uneducated country bumpkin who doesn’t understand modern economics. Or maybe the rules are different when your project has “data center” in the name.

This line will RUIN LIVES. I am not overstating this.

I am part of a group of around 50 homeowners in the Central Plains / Meadows at Shiloh area with the most beautiful views in Fluvanna county! Artists come here to paint landscape. Our residents raise cattle, sheep, horses, chickens, and ponies enhancing our bucolic scenery. We have vulnerable Box Turtles along the Little Raccoon Creek and a potential ancient archeological site. Our area is special. YET THIS BEHEMOTH LINE WILL PLOW RIGHT THROUGH! It seems that Valley Link has done a very poor job of actually evaluating these routes, perhaps other than what's cheapest for them!

This line would make our community go from bucolic paradise to INDUSTRIAL WASTELAND.…

This disastrous project is proposing to run the line directly through our 50 acre farm. The line goes over our pond and will ruin our ecology and drinking water. We have purposely protected this land from chemicals and have been stewards of the forest and water which are homes to wildlife and us. It will ruin every plan and dream we have worked hard to realize for this land. We are absolutely going to fight this. Appomattox, VA #savewitchtreefarm
