The stunned outrage phase? Officially over. Time to get serious about the legal cage match headed for the Virginia State Corporation Commission late this summer—ready or not, Valley Link is bringing it with a gaggle of lawyers, domain experts, and years of planning.

To actually kill this thing, we need a razor-sharp case presented under the SCC’s own rules—expert witnesses who actually know high-voltage transmission, seasoned power-industry researchers, and lawyers who don’t flinch. That doesn’t come cheap or quick.

We have partnered with Preserve Orange Alliance, led by Benjamin Pennington. Retired Marine, nonprofit board veteran, and proud owner of a transmission line that’s about to bisect his own property like a bad divorce. Their goal is identical to ours: stop the line dead.

 

The opening fundraising target is $1 million. Sounds like an absurd number… until you realize that’s what it actually costs to keep the right experts and lawyers in the fight for the next year (minimum) while the SCC deliberates. Competent legal firepower is pretty much the only thing that has ever stopped one of these monstrosities.
