"A Stunning Example of Why We Fought the American Revolution in the First Place"

Below you’ll find the video of Chris Miller, President of the Piedmont Environmental Council, delivering his speech at the May 19, 2026 press event—where the proposed Joshua Falls-Yeat transmission line corridor was solemnly declared one of Virginia’s most endangered historic places. (Full PEC press release here)

Do yourself a favor and watch this crisp two-minute clip. Chris lays it out with admirable clarity: the bureaucratic monstrosity known as the Valley Link transmission line is about to bulldoze straight through 115 miles of historic central Virginia—mostly private property, naturally—an acceptable sacrifice for the greater grid.

A telling extract to wet your appetite:

"In this place, poised at one of the most pivotal set of decisions in modern American history. Are we going to be a country of self-determination of authentic places or are we simply a landscape for the AI industry?"

Land of the free, indeed.
