The "Underground" Lie

The post-mortem on the May 19, 2026 Culpeper Board of Supervisors meeting drags on, and what do we have here? Yet another sparkling gem of a blatant lie, straight from the lips of Valley Link/Dominion Energy’s crack PR guru Rob Richardson, delivered with a straight face to the board like it was gospel.
I’ve lost count of how many times he’s peddled this exact fairy tale in public meetings and media interviews. It’s almost impressive.
Rob Richardson basically said that under-grounding this amount of power has never been done "anywhere in the world". Dominion Energy is LITERALLY planning to do exactly that with the Heritage to Mosby project. Not only can it carry as much or more megawatts (the thing that matters) as the Valley Link overhead 765KV line, but this project is MUCH longer! See a news story HERE, and PJMs own planning document HERE. This underground line was news over 6 months ago, probably in planning for YEARS.
Watch and hear it directly from his lips below.
So where in the fresh hell are Virginia’s utility regulators? Napping? On a coffee break? And don’t even get me started on the feds at FERC—clearly too busy to notice when a utility is feeding elected officials and the public a steady diet of Grade-A misinformation.
Shouldn’t *some* regulatory body, anywhere, have the authority to slap down this nonsense before officials lean on it to rubber-stamp decisions that will flatten citizens’ wallets, seize their land by eminent domain, and permanently scar central Virginia?
Any lawyers in the house? Or are we all just supposed to sit here and watch the grift unfold in real time?
